Commemorative plate to celebrate 150 years of a permanent Maypole in the village of Gawthorpe.

The Gawthorpe Maypole Committee has a long-standing tradition of celebrating significant milestones in the village’s Maypole history. To mark events such as the 100-year anniversary and the inauguration of a new Maypole in 1986, the Committee has commissioned special commemorative plates, honouring the rich heritage and community spirit surrounding this cherished tradition.

The Gawthorpe Maypole Committee is proud to offer a limited-edition commemorative plate to celebrate 150 years of a permanent Maypole in the village of Gawthorpe. Priced at £30, only 150 plates have been commissioned, making them a unique collector’s item.

A special thanks goes to Tony Shackleton for the beautiful design and to Edwardian China in Stoke-on-Trent for expertly producing the plates.

These plates serve as lasting mementos, recognising the dedication of those who have continued the Maypole celebrations alive for generations. Through such initiatives, the Committee ensures that the legacy of Gawthorpe’s Maypole festivities continues to be remembered and appreciated for years to come. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of Gawthorpe’s history, while supporting the preservation of this special tradition.
